In-Depth Information
first result after a search, and in fact two different users might get two different results, even
if they search the same thing at the same time. It's part of Google's formula to produce a
list that's tailored to your trends and viewing history, not someone else's.
SEO is important. There are basics that must be followed and a bare minimum of SEO
techniques to be used if you want to rank at all in the search results. For now, getting your
webpage to even show up naturally on the first page is an accomplishment, even if you
search your own domain name!
The key is content. In other words, good quality “words” on your website. If you want to
have your site come up when a customer searches “auto repair,” but you cover your website
with the words “car repair,” you cannot expect to achieve good results. Instead, you must
write keyword-rich content and add it to the pages of your website. This is basic SEO and
a small part of your overall SEO game plan.
Reaching Your Market
It's time to implement your marketing plan and begin reaching your market. It's easy to
see that social media is more than getting the most fans or “likes.” It's truly about building
meaningful relationships over time with the right group of people.
This doesn't happen overnight. This is why you need to implement your marketing plan
simultaneously while building your online trust and community. It will take time, but with
time you can build authentic relationships with your online and live followers. Drive real
sales and capture measurable business value from all of your hard work.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The more I type, the more sales I make. This belief
comes from dealing directly with customers on a daily basis and understanding them. I
want to know what drives them and what moves them into action to use my services. I per-
sonally tend not to limit my geographical audience. I want to reach everyone. However, in
the beginning this is typically not plausible, so you should focus on a region, like your own
city, to start.
You'll need business cards, and when you're ready to reach new clients that will be an ex-
tremely important part of your plan. The phone number on your business card should ring
your location during your normal operating hours. There are two reasons for this: The first
is because you are a service company, and no single statement communicates a stronger
commitment to service than answering the phone. Second, when you drop off a business
card to a receptionist and ask him or her to “please give it to the IT manager or other per-
son in charge of computer maintenance,” it's important to answer when you get a callback.
Your business card will be the link to your business and effectively the “roadmap” a cus-
tomer will follow to reach you. That's reaching your market.
