In-Depth Information
looking for general traffic statistics for competitors' websites. Compete.com is interesting
because it's entirely devoted to helping businesses analyze their competition.
Once you decipher who might be your biggest competition on the Internet you'll want to
get to know their websites. Most certainly your ideas will be amazing and cutting edge,
but don't discount the competition; the established businesses in your field will have some
great ideas too that you can capitalize on!
I would caution you to use your competitors' websites only as guidelines for your business.
You don't want to go and scrape off the text or pictures and use them on your site. This will
just end up in a lawsuit against you for copyright infringement,
What's the Competiton Doing?
I've paid consultants to assess the competition. There are many search engine optimization
(sEo) companies out there, and they can do a phenomenal job of finding out what your
competition is doing on the Internet. I've received full reports on how many pages each
of my main competitor sites have (depth) plus how many clicks they are each receiving
(reach).
It really depends on how detailed and how interested you are in finding out what your com-
petitors are doing. As a small start-up, you may not have this option, but as you grow this
information can be extremely helpful and give you an edge.
trademark infringement, or worse. You're going to want your website to be unique and
yours, not a copy of someone else's hard work.
Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Flattery—Sometimes
It was a monday morning, and we received a call from a customer who was complaining
that a repair we completed was not done properly. since this can happen from time to time,
we tried to help the customer over the phone initially, per our company policy, to see if we
could resolve the issue.
so the first thing we do is look up the customer record in our database. This gives us the
proper customer information, such as type of device repaired, when it was repaired, and
what was completed. However, in this case, my customer service representative could not
locate the customer record in our system.
