wandering. That said, if if you know where you're going a visit to Pudong can be
very worthwhile. There are two areas that reward exploration. First is
Lujiazui
,
the battery of skyscrapers just across the water from the Bund, w hich is home
not just to the giant Jinmao and Pearl Orient towers, but to a couple of
intriguing museums, including the China Sex Culture Exhibition. The second
rewarding area to explore is spacious
Century Park
, 4km away; the rather
more successful architectural experiments here include the Science and
Technology Museum, the Oriental Arts Centre, and, further out, the Zendai
Museum of Modern Art.
Lujiazui
In Lujiazui you'll find not just Shanghai's daftest edifice, the bulbous
Oriental
Pearl Tower
, but also its most elegant, the
Jinmao Tower
; both offer sublime
views across the city. In order to take advantage of the crowds of tourists who
flock to the Pearl Tower, several
museums
have opened nearby, including the
fun History Museum, and the intriguing China Sex Culture Exhibition. This is
another area where it helps to plan where you're going to eat. For cheap eats
head to the Superbrand Mall or the Jinmao Tower's basement food court; for
something pricey and memorable you can't beat
