Leaving Shanghai by plane
International and domestic plane tickets can be bought from any hotel or travel
agent for a small commission, or online at
W
www.elong.net; the ticket will be
delivered without extra charge a few hours after you book it and you pay the
delivery boy. You'll need to provide a phone number to confirm the booking.
Departure tax is included in the ticket price.
To get to Hongqiao Airport (

62688899), which handles most domestic flights,
take a cab (¥60 or so from the centre; 45min), bus #941 from Shanghai train station
(just over 1hr) or the airport shuttle bus (which will take rather less) from the terminal
at 1600 Nanjing Xi Lu, opposite Jing'an (every 30min; daily 6am-7.30pm; ¥20).
The fastest way to get to Pudong International Airport (

68341000) is to take
the metro to Longyang Lu on line #1 and then get the Maglev (see p.23). Otherwise,
take an airport bus (details as for Hongqiao Airport). A taxi will cost around ¥140.
