325 Changle Lu. See map, pp.70-71. One of
the city's mellowest spaces, this is not just a
good place to browse: the attached coffee
shop is a great place both to cast a discreet
eye over both your new acquisitions and the
other customers. Fiction, art and coffee
table books.
Shanghai Theatre Shop
Shanghai Theatre, People's Square. See map,
p.58. Good selection of genuine DVDs,
mostly documentaries and old films, from
¥12-30 - an excellent place to complete
your Hitchcock or Kurosawa collections.
Timezone Books
50 Moganshan Lu. See map, pp.80-81. A
surprisingly good art bookshop, with odd,
pod-shaped display cases that invite
browsing, and an attached coffee shop.
