In-Depth Information
Note that according to the customs laws of Western countries, you are only
allowed to import one dubious item per brand; so one fake Armani watch is fine,
but a dozen will be impounded. Fake DVDs will be confiscated if you leave them
in the original packaging, so store them in a DVD wallet.

Antiques
There's no shortage of antique markets selling opium pipes, Cultural
Revolution alarm clocks, carved screens, Mao's Little Red Book, silk paintings
- but never mind what the vendor tells you, always assume you're buying a
modern copy. Still, it's all fairly cheap. T The Dongtai Lu market is the best place
for this stuff, but barter hard. A few genuine antiques are available at the
antique stores, but again most of their stock is reproduction.
