Jardín de la Tercera Edad
and Jardín Botánico
Set aside for senior citizens,
Jardín de la Tercera Edad is the
oldest botanical garden within
Bosque de Chapultepec. There is
a walking path lined with 36
sculptures, an orchid pavilion,
and a greenhouse. There is also
a public garden, Jardín Botánico,
with a lush tropical conser-
vatory.

This huge and diverse urban
park offers a fantastic selection
of activities and makes a perfect
escape from the hustle and
bustle of the city. Most of the
major museums and the zoo are
located in the first section. Two
other sections offer more green
space, fewer visitors, and are
ideal for walking, cycling, and
boating

beneath shade trees.
In the center of the
park there is a huge
monument in memory
of Álvaro Obregón, hero of the
Mexican Revolution, who became
President in 1920.

This park is a great place for
joggers and walkers who want to
avoid the crowds. Built on the
site of a former horse racetrack,
the large park has attractive
landscaping and shady paths.

Parque Ecológico de
Xochimilco
This less-commercialized zone of
Xochimilco provides a view of
the ancient system of water
canals and man-made islands
developed by the Aztecs. Flower
gardens and a bird preserve are
