In-Depth Information
tion of this water has carved out the Sipsey, leaving be-
hind an amazing canyon filled with rock shelters and
caves waiting to be explored.
But the Sipsey is a work in progress, as those creeks
and rivers continue their work as they tumble down the
rocky walls. Hiking through the Sipsey, you will be
treated to literally hundreds of cascades of different
sizes—that's why the wilderness has been called the
Land of a Thousand Waterfalls.
There are way too many trails in the Sipsey to tell
you about here. It would require a separate topic if you
included the many “hidden” trails of Bankhead National
Forest. Visit the Sipsey Wilderness Hiking Club for
more information on trails, restrictions, and guided
hikes through this amazing landscape
