Options
There are two nice options that can increase the length of the hike and add to the
adventure. The first is to add the 0.6-mile Pavilion Trail that intersects with the
Old First Quarters Trail. This trail takes you to a nice overlook and a CCC pavil-
ion. The trail loops around until it ends at the Rockpile Trail just east of its inter-
section with the Old First Quarters.
The second option is to make a right at the intersection with the Rockpile Trail
and add an almost 2-mile out-and-back to the trip. The turnaround for this option
is at a waterfall near Wilson Dam.

Restaurants
Trowbridge's Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop, 316 N. Court St., Florence; (256)
764-1503. The story goes that dairyman Paul Trowbridge stopped in Florence in
1917 on the way to a dairy conference, fell in love with the town, and the rest is
history, opening this restaurant that to this day serves up delicious homemade ice
cream and sandwiches.
