In-Depth Information
equestrians not to use the trail, I did see some evidence that a few apparently
couldn't read, but I didn't encounter any.
The first 0.6 mile of the hike is also used as the approach trail for the Lawson
Branch Loop. An option to consider is to make this a 4.3-mile hike by crossing
Lawson Creek and completing the Lawson Branch Loop at mile 0.6 before return-
ing to the intersection and finishing the Jones Branch Loop.
The trail is well blazed with red paint blazes on trees and an occasional yellow
diamond marker tacked to a tree that reads “Jones Branch Loop” with the image
of a single red blaze on it. Intersections, such as where the trail crosses the horse
trail, are well marked on the opposite side from where you cross, so there is no
confusion.
Don't forget that Forever Wild properties are also open to hunting. I highly sug-
gest that you visit the Forever Wild website (www.alabamaforeverwild.com) for
dates and additional information about hunting season. And if you do go out on a
hike during hunting season, please remember to wear safety orange at all times.
