Miles and Directions
Start from the north side of the parking lot. The trailhead is a
large wooden gateway that you walk under. In 100 feet pass
the kiosk with maps to the left. In another 300 feet come to a Y.
The Geology Trail goes straight to the east, the Quarry Trail to
the right (south). Turn right onto the Quarry Trail.

Cross a paved service road to the south and pass another
kiosk with a trail map and Forever Wild sign. The Trillium Trail
branches off to the right. Continue straight to the south. In 100
feet pass the Hollow Tree Trail on the left, going straight up a
set of stairs.

Come to Miner's Junction. The Ridge Valley Trail comes in from
the left; continue straight to the south.

Pass the Mine Ruins / Crusher Trail. There is also a bench
here. This section can be very muddy and hold some good-
sized puddles after a heavy rain. In 50 feet pass the Jimmie
Dell Wright Overlook / Winter Overlook Trail on the right.

Pass the Silent Journey Trail on your right. The blazes are
white and yellow here as the Possum Loop begins. There is
also a “Don't Pick the Flowers” sign here.

Pass an unmarked trail on your right.

Arrive at Grey Fox Gap. There is an information kiosk here with
a map. The Quarry Trail ends at this major trail intersection
where the Silent Journey, Possum Loop, and Ridge Valley
Trails all converge. Continue straight on the red-blazed Over-
look Trail to the southwest. In 50 feet you will pass two signs at
a Y; one points to the right (northwest) and the Quarry Entrance
Trail, the other points to the left (west) and the Possum Loop.
