27 Pulpit Rock Trail
What would a trip to the state's highest mountain be without some spectacular
views? One of the best can be found at the end of the Pulpit Rock Trail. The rock is
one of the most popular destinations in the park for hikers and rock climbers. It juts
far out into space from a height just below the summit of the state's highest moun-
tain, with breathtaking panoramic views.
Start: Trailhead near cabins 1-4 just off Bunker Loop
Distance: 0.7 mile out and back
Hiking time: About 1 hour
Difficulty: Moderate with a steep climb down and back up from the trailhead
Trail surface: Dirt, rock, rocky outcrop
Best seasons: Fall-spring
