The Chewacla State Park Loop is made up of three separate trails: the Mountain
Laurel, Womelsdorf, and Fox Trails. Part of the hike tracks along the banks of
Chewacla Lake and Moore's Mill Creek. If you plan on hiking this loop in the
summer, bring plenty of bug spray.

The hike begins at the upper picnic pavilion. The pavilion is well used, so odds
are when you arrive there will be a party going on. Your best bet to begin the hike
is to park in the large paved lot in front of the pavilion and look for a short set of
cement stairs heading down into the woods. Climb down the stairs and follow a
short, 50-foot dirt path to the restrooms and then turn left (north). The trail is a
well-worn path through here and easy to follow. It will take you behind the pavil-
ion and then down to the falls on the Mountain Laurel Trail.
You will quickly see why this was rated a moderate hike. From the pavilion to
the falls it is a pretty good downhill scamper, but one the average hiker shouldn't
