A side road comes in from the left (west). Continue straight to
the north.

Come to another T with a dirt road. Turn left and continue on
the dirt road to the northwest. Another P ITCHER P LANT L OOP
sign points the way.
1.3
Cross a dirt service road to the west. A small savannah is on
your right.
1.4
Come to a Y. Another sign here points the way to the left. Take
the left fork to the southwest.
1.5
Another “Pitcher Plant Loop” sign points the way to the southw-
est. Follow the sign and continue straight to the southwest. The
road becomes more hard-packed clay at this point.
1.6
Arrive at the bog. In the spring you will be surrounded by hun-
dreds, if not thousands, of pitcher plants.
1.8
Come to the end of the pitcher plant bog. Turn around here and
retrace your steps to the trailhead. ( Option: You can continue
the loop, which will take you back to mile 0.7; however, in an-
other 0.4 mile the road becomes very boggy. When I hiked it
the water was anywhere between knee and waist deep. If you
wish to complete the loop, continue straight and follow the ar-
rows, but be ready to get wet, and watch for snakes.)
2.0
Arrive back at the trailhead.
