In-Depth Information
Behind the theatre a dark alley was created in which children could use light graffiti
to leave their name or tag on the wall. Stencils were also supplied, providing pre-set
positive words such as: 'good', 'hope', 'beautiful' and 'nice'.
Letterlab was a laboratory where children could find out for themselves how various
perspectives of the letter work. Discovery assignments were linked to each sub-
theme. The assignments were layered and diverse, so that children of various ages
could feel challenged by them.
One of the corners of the exhibition space was given over to a lounge area where
visitors could watch a custom-crafted film that provided an abstract overview of the
history of typography. The film also showed how all the stations in the exhibition are
related to one another.
At the European Design Awards in 2010 the Letterlab project was awarded the Gold
in Brand Implementation and the Jury Prize.
