There are some issues you should consider when producing a comprehensive piece of
information design. This is not a definitive list, but here are ten guidelines that may
help.
Ten things to consider
1) Be systematic in your thinking.
2) Be as well informed as you can about the subject you are working in.
3) Be familiar with the technical requirements of the visual media you are working
with.
4) Be familiar with human communication capabilities so that users can perceive and
understand the information using appropriate senses.
5) Be able to consider the possible benefits of the communicated information to the
users.
6) Be knowledgeable about the creation of pictures and text, static and animated, for
the presentation of the information and how they can be balanced to achieve optimal
effects.
7) Be able to design information in an interesting and attractive way to grab attention
but still be appropriate to the required message.
8) Be able to communicate effectively in both your mother tongue and English.
9) Be able to co-operate with specialists to evaluate and improve the design of mes-
sages with regard to the different cultural sensitivities of the user.
10) Behave in a responsible manner with regard to the needs of the target users and
society as a whole.
With these principles in mind, it is possible to produce beautiful and functional design
that can help the audience to understand information in all its assorted forms.
