The region and its thousand-year-old
forests are a little paradise for out-
door activity buffs and nature enthusi-
asts. Bamfi eld is also one of the start-

Trail,” a 75km-long path, was laid out
at the turn of the century to help res-

frequently crashed against the coast's
ominous reefs.

west coast.
At the south end of the village, in He
Tin Kis Park , there is a wooden
walkway leading through a small tem-
perate rain forest beside Terrace Beach.
This short walk highlights the beauty of
this type of vegetation.

place after Vincente Tofi no, their hy-
drography professor. From mid-March
to mid-April, Tofi no lives for the Whale
Festival, a month in which the global
grey whale population passes through
the region. Every year, close to 19,000
grey whales undertake a 16,000km mi-
