Mount Douglas Park , which cov-
ers 10ha and offers access to the sea, is
the perfect place for a picnic or a stroll.
Its summit lookout offers a 360° view
of the Southern Gulf Islands, the Strait
of Georgia, the Strait of Juan de Fuca
and the snow-capped peaks along the
Canadian and U.S. coast. The colours
of the sea and the mountains are most
vibrant early in the morning and at the
end of the day.
West Saanich Road
The Butchart Gardens , which cov-
er 26ha, were founded by the family of
the same name in 1904. A wide array of
fl owers, shrubs and trees fl ourish in this
unique space. A map is available at the
entrance. During Summer, fi reworks
light up the sky on Saturday nights, and
outdoor concerts are held here every
evening.
