THE SEASIDE BICYCLE ROUTE
Among Vancouver's many bike paths, the most interesting one for
visitors is undoubtedly the Seaside Bicycle Route. The route takes
bike riders through some spectacular scenery along Burrard Inlet,
Stanley Park, English Bay and False Creek.
Cyclists can pick up the trail on Burrard Inlet as far west as Thurlow
Street, west of the Pan Pacifi c Hotel, and travel in a counterclockwise
direction to Stanley Park, where they pick up the Seawall path. After
riding the 10km Seawall, passing the totem poles, Lions Gate Bridge
and several beaches, cyclists continue along English Bay to the shores
of False Creek all the way to Science World. The route continues to
Granville Island and along the shore of English Bay through to Vanier
Park, Kitsilano Park and several beaches, ending at Spanish Bank West.
Shortcuts can be taken from the north shore of False Creek to the
south shore via the Cambie or Burrard bridges (the latter is a good
bet for making a beeline to Granville Island). The entire route is about
30km long and is also part of the Trans Canada Trail. It's a fabulous
way to experience Vancouver!
