The renowned Vancouver Aquarium
Marine Science Centre is ap-
propriately located by the ocean. It
displays representatives of the marine
animal life of the West Coast and the
Pacifi c as a whole, including magnifi -
cent killer whales, belugas, dolphins
and exotic fi sh.
The aquarium's outside exhibit is home
to harbour seals, Spinnaker the dolphin,
sea otters and belugas, all of which
face particular challenges that prevent
them from being released into the wild.
Inside, there are underwater viewing
areas for the belugas and dolphins.
The Treasures of the B.C. Coast displays
representative ecosystems, one tank for
each area, complete with interpretive
panels. There is a section on the shores
of Stanley Park, supplied by seawater
piped in from Burrard Inlet. Finally,
the Amazon gallery, where rainforest
