less varieties of waterfowl including
the mallard, barnacle goose, Canada
goose, trumpeter swan (which migrates
from the Arctic to Mexico) and fi nally
the grey jay, a little bird who will gladly
help itself to your picnic lunch if you
aren't careful.

copy of the Peterson Field Guide: A Field
Guide to Western Birds , published by
Houghton Miffl in. Although parks are
often the best places to observe certain
species, bird-watching is an activity that
can be enjoyed anywhere.
