The Manitoba Stampede and Exhibition turns Morris, an otherwise
sleepy town, into rodeo central for fi ve days in mid-July. Surpassed
only by the massive Calgary Stampede, it is Canada's second-largest
rodeo.
The hugely popular National Ukrainian Festival takes place in
Dauphin for three days in July or August, beginning on a Friday
morning. Heritage village festivities include a bread-baking competi-
tion, embroidery contests, an Easter egg decorating competition, folk
arts and lots of dancing.
The Northern Manitoba Trappers' Festival in The Pas runs for fi ve
days each February. Festivities here include a famous dog-sled race.
