YELLOWHEAD
HIGHWAY
Southwest of Prince Albert, Duck Lake
was the site of one of the most famous
events in Saskatchewan history: the
battle between Louis Riel and his band
of Metis and the North West Mounted
Police. The Duck Lake Regional
Interpretive Centre describes
the events as they unfolded, display-
ing artifacts from the Metis Resistance
campaign. A series of painted outdoor
murals welcome visitors, who can also
climb a tower which provides a view of
the battlefi eld grounds.

Saskatchewan in 1899 and established
