The Exploration Place is located
on the site where Fort George was
built in 1807, in the park that bears the
same name. The most important mu-
seum and science centre in northern
British Columbia, it is the ideal place to
learn more about the history of Prince
George. With its many interactive ex-
hibitions on regional wildlife, sports
and palaeontology, the centre appeals
to young and old, no matter what their
interests.

Of course, the major points of inter-
est in Hudson's Hope are the W.A.C.
Bennett and Peace Canyon
hydroelectric facilities. Free tours are
available at both. A hodgepodge of
stone and concrete that fi lls a natural
valley, the W.A.C. Bennett dam is one of
the world's largest structures, while its
reservoir, Williston Lake, is the world's
ninth largest artifi cial body of water!
Hudson's Hope
This area was fi rst explored in 1793 by
Alexander Mackenzie. In 1805, a fur-
trading post was set up here. Nowadays,
Hudson's Hope is known mainly for its
hydroelectric complexes, one of which
