Although it was used in a WPF application, the same
can be used in a Windows Forms application as well.
Accessing Native Report Server reports
from SharePoint Web parts
Report Explorer and Report Viewer have long history going back to the SQL Server
2000 Reporting Services service. It is also available in the SQL Server 2012 version.
These Web parts will be useful if you want to bring up reports on the Native Mode
Report Server in a SharePoint Site. The reports can be viewed and the Report Server
hierarchy can be traversed using these Web parts.
Report Explorer ( SPExplore.dwp ) connects to the Report Manager of the Native
mode Report Server. The Report Explorer shows the contents of the Report Manager
URL. If you have permissions to Report Builder (as Administrator you already have)
you can launch Report Builder as well from Report Explorer. The Report Explorer
provides the HTML viewer with some of the toolbar controls.
Report Viewer ( SPViewer.dwp ) displays the report and all the associated controls
to work with reports.
It is assumed that all of the following requisites are available ( Chapter 1 , Overview
and Installation - SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 ) to work with these Web parts:
• The Report Server installed in Native mode (Report Server HI or
Report Server Kailua in this topic) and Report Manager enabled
• SharePoint Server 2010
Hands-on exercise 10.3 - viewing reports
on the Native mode Report Server using
SharePoint Web parts
In order to work with the Web parts they must first be installed. When you install
SQL Server, the Web parts are installed as RsWebParts.cab (24 KB) file as shown
in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\
Reporting Services\SharePoint
