Summary
Windows Azure SQL Reporting Service on the Windows Azure platform was
described in considerable detail—how to start a subscription to the service: how to
access the portal: how to create a SQL Azure database: once in the portal, how to
create a table and populate it: and how to use it to create a report. Also discussed
were many of the management tasks that one can undertake as well methods
to view reports created on this server were described. The interaction of Report
Builder, SSDT, and Visual Studio were also described.
In Chapter 10 , Applications Accessing Report Servers , three applications that access
the report server are described. Reports that need to be distributed may have to
be displayed by using customized programs and Chapter 10 , Applications Accessing
Report Servers , shows some of the possibilities. The Windows Azure SQL Reporting
services reports may be accessed from a hosted service by using ASP.NET or
Windows Forms applications. While this is not described here, the readers may
ind examples in the author's topic mentioned earlier. In this chapter, you will
find the example of SharePoint Web parts accessing the Native mode report server,
a Windows Presentation Foundation project accessing reports on report servers,
and SQL Server Integration Services project accessing the Report Server.
