Windows Azure SQL
Reporting
What was announced as SQL Azure Reporting Services in the fall of 2010 became
Windows Azure SQL Reporting, making it available in June 2012. It is just like
Reporting Services implemented in Native mode except that the platform is
Windows Azure. This means it uses two of the following Microsoft technologies:
• Windows Azure Platform
• SQL Server Reporting Services
In this chapter, you will be introduced to Cloud-based Microsoft Reporting Services
and learn to carry out the following:
• How to begin working with Windows Azure Cloud Services
• Create an account to work with Windows Azure Cloud services and
how to log in to the Windows Azure portal
• Create a SQL database in the Cloud and create a table
• Connect to the Windows Azure Cloud-based SQL database and populate
the table from SSMS
• Create a SQL Reporting Service in Windows Azure
• Create a report based on the Windows Azure SQL database
• Deploy report to the SQL Reporting Services on Windows Azure
• View reports on the SQL Reporting Web server
• Create a shared data source in the Windows Azure portal
• Learn to manage users and user permissions
