2. Clicking on Installation displays the following window:

3. As we will be installing a single SQL Server 2012 named instance , click on

the first option— New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features
to an existing installation .

4. In the next screen, you will be asked to specify the architecture of SQL

Server 2012 to install and specify the location (where your product files are
stored on your computer) of the SQL Server Installation media. There will
be two options; choose the radio button for x64 . You may need to browse to
Installation Media Root Directory , as shown in the screenshot. The choice
of x64-bit was made when a decision was taken to install SharePoint 2010
on the same machine.

SharePoint 2010 does not install on a 32-bit operating system.
