15. Double-click the map to display the
Map Layers
menu as shown in the
following screenshot:
16. Click on the
New Layer Wizard
.
The New Map Layer
page is displayed.
17. Click on
SQL Server Spatial Gallery
and then click on
Next
.
The other way to get data into your report is via
ESRI Shapefile. Follow the link on the
New Map
Layer
page for more info.

New Map Layer
wizard's
Choose a dataset with SQL Server spatial
data
page appears. At the very bottom, click on
Add a new dataset with
SQL Server Spatial data
.
19. Click on
Next
.
20. The
New Map Layer
wizard's
Choose a connection to a SQL Server
spatial data source
page appears. Click on
New
.
21. The
Data Source Properties
page is displayed. Create a connection
with the following information:
° embedded or shared:
embedded
° Connection type:
MS SQL Server
° Connection string:
Data Source=HODENTEKWIN7\\KAILUA;Initial
Catalog=AdventureWorks2012
22. Test the connection using the button and click on
OK
.
23. You are back in the
New Map Layer
wizard's connection page.
Note that the name of connection embedded is
DataSource1
(default)

Click on
Next
. The
Design a query
page of the
New Map Layer
wizard appears.
