4. Save the report, either to the local folder or to the report server.

Adding interactive sorting
Interactive sort is one of the sort methods available. With interactive sort, the user
can sort the results of the column(s) by just clicking on the column heading (usually
the textbox that holds the column heading). Windows Explorer also has this property
and you can sort on any column. You must implement the interactive sorting for
reports in the design.

The methods available for sorting are:

• Sort data in a dataset query (use ORDER BY clause)
• Define a sort expression for a data region or a group
• Provide interactive sort buttons to tables and matrices

We now look at adding interactive sorting to one of the columns in the report.

1. Click on CompanyName in the table as shown in the following screenshot.

Initially this textbox will be empty.
