There are two major choices, Always run this report with the most recent data or
Render this report from a report snapshot .
You may decide not to cache it, cache a temporary copy and remove (expire) the
copy of report after a specified number of minutes, or set up a schedule to expire
the copy.
When you choose the second option, the items to configure are shown in the
next screenshot:
In this case you can also choose whether or not to time out or specify number of
seconds to process.
Cache refresh options
The cache can be preloaded using Report Manager. You can preload the cache for
a shared dataset by creating a cache refresh plan for the cached report. Alternatively,
a data-driven subscription can be used to preload the cache. The former is the best
recommended practice.
The following requirements are to be met before creating a plan:
• The shared dataset or the report must have caching enabled
• The shared data sources for the shared dataset or the report must
be configured to use stored credentials or no credentials
• The SQL Server Agent service must be running
