In-Depth Information
• Formatting report items
• Images, text boxes, rectangles, and lines
• Page layout and rendering
Most of them were described with examples in the irst edition of this topic. These
can be carried out in SSDT as well. Interactive features such as links, interactive sort,
and document maps are fully supported. The reports before being published can be
previewed as seen in Chapter 2 , SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 Projects with Visual
Studio 2012 . Previews are also supported in Report Builder 3.0. Preview features
help you to flush out problematic areas in report layout, blank pages in reports,
page breaks, and many other troublesome problems.
Most of the report types are also described in Chapter 5 , Working with Report Builder
3.0 . The hands-on exercises guide you to work with all aspects of authoring different
types of reports in Chapter 5 , Working with Report Builder 3.0 .
Saving and deploying reports
In Report Designer you can save reports locally, deploy them to the Report Server
or SharePoint Site. Deploying to the Native mode Report Server was described in
Chapter 2 , SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 Projects with Visual Studio 2012 . Unless
the Reporting Services with SharePoint Integration is properly configured, it will not
be possible to deploy it to a SharePoint Site. You need not only the Server URL but
also the following items:
• Target dataset folder
• Target data source folder
• Target report folder
• Target report parts folder
• Target server URL
• Target server version, SQL Server 2008 R2 or later
The target dataset folder and report parts folder are optional and the other items
must be fully qualified URLs. In the case of target server URL, you should use
the site name.
