New toolbox items in Report Builder 3
The following new items have been added to the report writing tool since the previous
edition of this topic mentioned earlier:
• Spark lines
• Data Bars
• Indicators
• Maps
The use of new items as well as some of the items from the previous edition will be
demonstrated by way of examples in Chapter 5 , Working with Report Builder 3.0 . These
items are available in both SSDT and Report Builder 3.0. The rest of the items in the
toolset will also be used in the Hands-on examples of Chapter 5 , Working with Report
Builder 3.0 .
Report parts and their reusability
Report parts, which are new in SSRS 2008 R2 and continue in SSRS 2012, add to
productivity through reuse of objects. Object reuse is supported in Report Builder
