Summary
We began the chapter by discussing the need to lock in a distributed environment. Then, we
started learning the Java high-level API, which is mandatory to start with distributed lock-
ing since it is not available with low-level APIs. Then, we learned the meaning of distrib-
uted locking and its usage. We also discussed how distributed locking can be realized using
optimistic locking.
Every Amazon web service has its own advantages. So in the next chapter, we will learn
about integrating DynamoDB with Redshift, Data Pipeline, and MapReduce.
