Integration Services Tasks for Data Mining
SSIS 2005 provides tasks and transforms specifically targeted for Data Min-
ing objects in Analysis Services 2005. With the Data Mining Query task you
can query mining models and store the results in a destination like a relational
database. One of the common uses of such a task is to predict a list of cus-
tomers for a targeted marketing campaign. If the company wants to offer pro-
motional discounts to targeted customers every month, they would predict if a
new customer is valuable based on the customer's attributes, calculate an ap-
propriate discount, and mail them a coupon. The data mining query transform
is used when you want to manipulate the source data to the mining model or
