Create a Data Source View (DSV)
The Adventure Works DW database contains 25 tables. The cube you build in
this chapter uses 10 tables. Data Source Views give you a logical view of the
tables that will be used within your OLAP database. A Data Source View can
contain tables and views from one or more data sources. Although you could
accomplish the same functionality by creating views in the relational server,
Data Source Views provide additional functionality, flexibility, and manageabil-
ity.
To create a Data Source View, follow these steps:
1. Select Data Source Views folder in the Solution Explorer.
2. Right-click Data Source Views and select New Data Source View, as
shown in Figure 2-20 .
