performance. Most often you will have certain attributes that are used as member
properties. We recommend you set the AttributeHierarchyOptimizedState for mem-
ber property attributes as well as attributes that might be used infrequently during
querying to be NotOptimized because those attributes are not involved in queries.
The improvement for data storage and processing time would justify this choice.
The AttributeHierarchyOptimizedState is a property for each attribute. If you click
an attribute you will see this property under the advanced section in the properties
window. Figure 13-4 shows the Attribute HierarchyOptimizedState property. To turn
off the property for an attribute in the dimension, change the value from FullyOp-
timized to NotOptimized.
