Adjust your brush size as needed to paint the areas in the mask that might not have
been selected, and thus not af ected, when you created the adjustment layer.
Rei ne Edge (covered in Lesson 5, “Making the Best Selections,”) is actually the best method
to use to select hair, but for this exercise, you will use the Brush tool to help you understand the
process of painting your selection on a mask.
Paint the areas that may have been missed with
your original selection.
You can make your brush size larger by pressing the ] (right bracket) key and smaller by pressing
[ (left bracket) key. Make your brush harder by pressing Shift+] and softer by pressing Shift+[.

Press X on your keyboard to swap the foreground and background colors. Black is
now the foreground color.

Now, i nd a section of your image—perhaps the hand tucked in underneath the
elbow—that has the Hue/Saturation change applied to it in error.
You will paint this area with the black paint brush, with the mask active, to block the
change from occurring there.
It is very easy to deselect the mask and paint on your actual image. Avoid this by clicking once
on the Layer mask thumbnail, just to be sure!
