Tips for selecting layers
There are several methods you can use to make sure that you are activating certain layers
and changing the properties on the specii c layer you want to modify.

You should still have the mylayers.psd i le open from the last exercise. If it is not, access
the i le in the ps08lessons folder and select the red square layer in the Layers panel.

Make sure that the Move tool ( ) is selected, then hold down the Ctrl (Windows) or
Command (Mac OS) key and select the yellow circle in the image i le. Notice that the
yellow circle layer is automatically selected.

Now, hold down the Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac OS) key and select the green
square in the image i le. The green square layer is selected. By holding down the Ctrl
or Command key, you turn on an auto-select feature that automatically selects the
layer that contains the pixels you have clicked on.
