All the generated networks show the layouts resembling what could be considered as a 'real
water distribution outlook'. For the samples of ±50 networks, the generation time has been
between a few seconds and a few minutes, depending on the selected settings. It is however
not always that the generation time is proportional to the number of junctions, preferred
number of networks or the level of complexity; the random generation process has been more
erratic in this respect, which can also be attributed to the occasionally less logical
combination of input settings. Tables 4.15 and 4.16 give indications about running times of
NGT for various conditions in random and non-random mode of generation, respectively.

Table 4.15 shows that the preferred number of networks could have not been reached for
some segments of networks, next to the inconsistent running time, which is not necessarily a
surprise. For instance, insisting on a network layout of 260 links and 200 junctions and
setting the low maximum number of nodal connections, in order to maintain the preferred
low complexity, is practically impossible assignment and random generator may not be able
