Level A Protection
Totally encapsulating vapor-
tight suit with full-facepiece
SCBA or supplied-air respirator.
Level B Protection
Totally encapsulating suit
does not have to be vapor-tight.
Same level of respiratory protection
as Level A.
Level C Protection
Full-face canister air
purifying respirator. Chemical
protective suit with full body
coverage.
Level D Protection
Basic work uniform, i.e.,
longsleeve converalls, gloves,
hardhat, boots, faceshield
or goggles.

The.inal.rule.does.not.create.new.requirements.regarding.what.PPE.employers.
must.provide..It.does.not.require.payment.for.uniforms,.items.worn.to.keep.clean,.or.
other.items.that.are.not.PPE.
