should. be. reinforced. as. an. effective. accident. prevention. technique.. Any. time. you.
institute.a.special.program.that.targets.a.unique.safety.and.health.issue,.an.organized.
approach. in. prevention. should. be. developed.. The. beneits. of. instituting. a. special.
program. include. the. fact. that. the. potential. hazard. remains. on. everybody's. mind,.
management.receives.feedback,.and.workers.receive.reinforcement.for.the.desired.
performance.. A program. can. be. developed. in. any. area. where. the. company. feels.
there.is.a.need..Some.areas.of.focus.could.be.ladder.safety,.back.injuries,.vehicle.or.
equipment.safety,.power.tool.incidents,.etc..For.success,.the.program.may.contain.
goals.to.attain,.rewards.to.receive,.or.even.consequences.for.enforcement.if.the.rules.
of.the.program.are.not.followed..By.setting.up.a.program,.the.company.is.at.least.
taking.action.to.target.accidents.and.prevent.their.occurrence.
An.example.of.a.special.emphasis.program.is.a.ladder.safety.program..A.ladder.
safety.program.will.be.utilized.as.an.example.to.illustrate.how.this.might.be.done.
