Cathedral 4 [map] ( www.stjohnscathedral.org.hk ) . Built in 1847-9, a mix of neo-Gothic
and Norman styles, this Anglican foundation is Hong Kong's oldest and thought to be the
oldest in East Asia. It became a club for Japanese officers during World War II. Note the
stained-glass windows in the Quiet Chapel, designed by Joseph Edward Nuttgens in the
1950s.
Continue past the cathedral, take the footbridge across Garden Road towards Citibank
Plaza and follow signs for Hong Kong Park 5 [map] , whose 10.5 hectares (25 acres) of
landscaped gardens and lakes are popular locations for wedding and graduation photos.
There's a large conservatory with many species of plants plus an excellent raised walk-
through aviary of birds from Asian rainforests.
