The easiest spot to locate red-cockaded woodpeckers on the Oakmulgee is just off SH 25.
Take SH 5 south from Brent about 5 miles until SH 25 forks to the west. Travel along SH
25 approximately 6 miles and watch for the road to the Pondville lookout tower on the right.
About a mile past the road to the tower, Forest Road 753 will be on the right; this is a gated
road, but there is plenty of space to park at the entrance to this road. Walk down this road
