Once near the brink of extinction, the brown pelican has recovered very nicely, particularly
in Alabama. Almost all coastal areas will guarantee views of brown pelicans; anywhere along
the Alabama beaches will provide a view of a flight of pelicans coming by. One need only
wait for a little while. Very common around the docks and pilings at Fort Morgan, Alabama,
and Dauphin Island, Alabama. Less common in Mississippi, but still very likely in areas with
pilings and docks, such as Gulf Islands National Seashore.
