Sandhill Crane
The Mississippi subspecies can best be sighted at Mississippi Sandhill Crane National
Wildlife Refuge. Other, but less probable, places to see the cranes are at Eufaula National
Wildlife Refuge in Alabama and Gulf State Park, Alabama, during February.
Magnificent Frigatebird
During summer months, this bird may be seen offshore of both states. A boat trip may be
necessary, or storms may bring one close to the beaches.

Rare at Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, Alabama; Choctaw National Wildlife
Refuge, Alabama; and Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge, Mississippi.

On rare occasions, this bird has been seen during winter at Noxubee National Wildlife
Refuge in Mississippi and at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge in Alabama.
White-fronted Goose
During winter, try looking among the Canada geese at Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge
in Mississippi.
