NATCHEZ TRACE PARKWAY
Running from near Natchez, Mississippi, to near Nashville, Tennessee, the Natchez Trace
Parkway follows a historic route important to the development of our nation. As a unit of the
National Park system, the parkway provides some of the most beautiful driving in the coun-
try. Although not as well known as the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Natchez Trace is a roadway
deserving of great praise. The majority of the parkway is in Mississippi, with a small portion
in the northwest corner of Alabama, and no other road makes these two states look so good.
With parts of the roadway and its surrounding lands having been protected since the 1930s,
the fields and forests alongside the parkway have been preserved to develop into a maturity
and beauty lacking almost everywhere in the remaining parts of these two states.
