out quickly and communicate what they discover to the rest of the team.
Either approach can lead to a technically successful 3D post experience. In
the end it is the managing team that bears the responsibility for the success
or failure of a post project, whether in 2D or 3D.
As we discussed in Chapter 1, a show with technically correct 3D imagery
provides the best chance for achieving its creative intention. Clearly, team
members in the managing workl ow need to pay extra attention to the two
3D-specii c workl ows: depth and geometry. One of biggest mistakes in
planning for 3D post is underestimating resources for these two workl ows.
Even if all of the other workl ows operate l awlessly, if you drop the ball
with geometry or depth, you risk your show's creative success.
Of the six core workl ows editorial, depth and geometry share a particularly
close connection. A change in one can cause unwanted changes in the other.
For example, re-framing in editorial can affect the overall depth of a shot;
a change in depth can create geometry issues if the depth change exceeds
certain parameters.
