1.13 The Six Core 3D Post Processes
In addition to the 36 3D knowledge areas generated by the Workl ow/
Element combinations, it may be helpful for some teams to drill down even
further to distinguish between the various types of each element. This level
of detail may be overkill for some 3D productions. However, if you need to
make absolutely sure you have considered all of the areas related to post for
your show, this approach may help. These sub-types of elements are called
processes in this topic.
Processes are tasks and activities, the things you and your team do within each
workl ow to deliver a show. A shown in Figure 1.16 there are six categories
of processes that apply to all elements in all 3D workl ows include:
Input/Output: getting data into and out of workl ows; maintaining integrity
of the data while in the workl ow; includes transcoding and archiving
Calibration: establishing common baselines/targets
Viewing/Monitoring: observing work-in-progress imagery
