5.6.3 Tools
You will have a more successful show (technically and creatively) if you devote
sufi cient resources to the depth workl ow. There is very little difference in editing
systems despite what their makers claim. There's a i le management window, a
timeline, one or more playback windows plus tools to make various spatial and
temporal changes to imagery. If you have the choice, consider choosing depth
and geometry tools i rst then selecting the editing tool. On the other hand, if
you feel comfortable working with a particular editing system, check to see
what kind of 3D capabilities it has natively and what additional functionality
can be added with plug-ins. Tools in the depth workl ow can be categorized as:
• Image Analysis Systems
• Depth Grading Systems
• Plug-Ins
